Recently, Tito Boni visited Iloilo and suggested Cloud's Staycation Iloilo , which had a promo rate of 1,800 pesos ($30.51) per night for two people, plus 500 pesos ($8.47) for each extra guest. Carmina booked and paid a 50% deposit through the given payment method. On the day we leave for Manila, we’ll have the location of where we’re staying along with directions. When we arrived at One Madison Place , we discovered it was actually a condo with a rented-out unit. When we arrived at One Madison Place, we discovered it was actually a condo with a rented-out unit. In unit 4U, there was only one bed, and the so-called “second bed” was just an attached extension, not the two proper beds you’d expect. The bathroom was a letdown—the toilet wouldn’t flush, and the seat was detached and wobbly, which was worrying since we had two seniors with us. There were no basic amenities like extra sheets, towels, or toilet paper. After complaining, someone came to fix the toilet, but the seat stayed unstable. The shower head was rusty, making it unpleasant to use, and the balcony door wouldn’t open because a key was stuck inside. At night, the noise from cars and ambulances made it hard for light sleepers to rest. The mattress was in awful shape—holes, wires poking through, a bad smell, though thankfully no bedbugs. It seemed the owner, Jake, hadn’t inspected the unit before renting it out. I wouldn’t recommend this place—even beach rentals are cleaner, more comfortable, and better maintained for a four-day, three-night stay. Even at 1,800 pesos a night, it wasn’t worth it, as the unit gave a misleading impression of being a good place to stay.
One morning, Mom Violy got up from sleep to use the toilet. While sitting there, she spotted a cockroach and tried to kill it, but the toilet seat was unstable. She ended up injuring herself and got a red scratch on her neck after falling off the seat. She didn’t mention it to anyone until breakfast the next day, when Carmina noticed the scratch and asked about it. That’s when she shared the story, and I told her she should have woken us up so we could help her.
That night Tita Edna took a half bath by using the pail and was able to kill the cockroach that was hiding.
The receptionist and lobby staff are helpful and friendly without a doubt, but the unit itself has issues for any tourist planning to stay in the place Jake rents out to visitors in Iloilo City.
