When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. They usually have a live band, but unfortunately, there was no entertainment the night we went. My family had spoken highly of Isla Grand and encouraged us to try the Filipino dishes we’ve been missing from back home. Lech...

Friends

In our life we experience other things that may affect the way we think and during those times we feel when it has happened more than once you start to realize what kind of friend is that person to you. You realize a lot of things that comes in mind and wonder why someone has to lie to you and not tell you the truth. Sometimes you realize not just being in a relationship you also have friends who lie just to make themselves happy to move on to what they are planning. As you have opened up to them and tell them what is going on with your life you realize you became a fool knowing that that person you had trusted became just like anyone else. You slowly start to stop communicating with them and realize they mean nothing to you. You feel so betrayal and realize who your real friends are. I can understand when my Aunt told me she has no friends where she lives and it is better this way less stress and drama. I’ve reached that point in my life I don't have tha...

Facebook memories makes you look back in the years when you had taken pictures with family and friends either you have traveled or did some thing special to be able to look back to what you have done. Sometimes we forget the actual date, month and year when you have seen someone or places you have traveled back in the past. Eight years ago my mom and I had traveled to Palawan in Puerto Princess in the Philippines. My mom over heard from her other friends that this place was nice and she wanted to experience something nature to ride a boat to enter inside to see the Underground River that everyone keeps talking about. Sometimes what we hear places and we want to see it for ourselves if what they said, is true or not. The boat ride is 15 minutes to go where the Underground River is located. You get to ride another boat to enter inside the underground river and experience being inside and exploring the area. ...

Last Minute Shopping

I don't understand why people like to ask something from someone when they already know the person is coming over to visit you and inform you last minute what they request you to bring for you. This is what I hate the most when they we're informed one month ahead that you will be coming over to visit them. Later you are talking to them and letting them which hotel you will be staying at during your stay and where you would like to spend time with them. As you have been conversation with them as you give your agenda for your upcoming trip and give all the details where you will meet on that certain day. Everything is all planned up for your venue you than hear can you do me a favor sometimes you are hesitant to ask what they favor maybe. You don't want to be greedy because that person will be showing you around where you have no clue how to go about in their environment that they live in. You say, sure what is that favor you want me. The person tells you th...

Once you have a child and they start attending school as a parent you are participating on their school activities. School begins there is always a parent’s orientation where it takes place before your child attends school this way you will learn more about your child’s school and what to expect in the coming school year.
