Carmina's review on Summit Hotel in Tacloban

Last year my dad had informed me he will be getting married in Tacloban the place his wife grew up in the Philippines . My dad said he would like all of his family members to attend since they couldn't go to the one in the United States. Carmina booked her flight during Philippine Airlines ’ year-end sale at the start of 2026. I told my dad about my travel plans for a short trip from Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 19. My cousins also asked for my flight details so they could book the same flight. My dad said he will book my room for me sharing with two family members at  Summit Hotel in Tacloban . Sending me the confirmation booking information for my reference.  As the months went by, before I knew it, the big day had finally arrived—a rare event that doesn’t happen too often. Everything had been carefully planned by my dad and his wife, Tita Cielo. When we arrived, the check-in time was 2 PM, but there was a mix-up with the rooms. Some were ready for check-in, but the one...

Mom Violy had tried every restaurant in the mall—until word of Astons’ steak reached her, turning a casual lunch into a mission of delicious discovery.

Carmina planned to visit the newly opened Ikea at Trinoma on All Souls' Day, a Philippine holiday, thinking the mall would be less crowded. She didn’t invite Mom Violy, knowing she doesn’t enjoy going to Trinoma. While talking to Mom Violy on the phone, Carmina mentioned she was heading to Trinoma on Saturday, November 1, and invited her to come along, though she reminded her that she doesn’t like walking around that area. Mom Violy said she couldn’t recall ever visiting Trinoma, mentioning how aging parents tend to forget places they've been to. She expressed a craving for steak for lunch, so Carmina began searching for restaurants in Trinoma and sent her links to choose from. Mom Violy decided on Astons Specialties, which seemed to have the steak she wanted.

Upon arriving at Trinoma, unfamiliar with the layout, they discovered two Garden areas where restaurants were located. At Astons Specialties, they were the first customers and were seated at a table, with complimentary tortilla chips and dip offered.

One family member ordered Shrimp Aglio Olio, paired with mushroom soup and freshly baked garlic bread sold separately.

Another family member chose Hickory Barbeque Chicken with two sides—mashed potatoes with gravy and potato wedges

Carmina ordered Honey Bourbon Ribs with two sides, French fries and onion rings, and added a baked potato for an extra charge.

Mom Violy took her time deciding and ultimately went with Surf and Turf, which included Prime Sirloin Steak, chargrilled shrimp, and two orders of potato salad as sides. She later swapped one of Carmina’s baked potatoes for the potato salad to bring home. Everyone left feeling full of the meal.
