Carmina discovered that she is halfway to being monetized, having completed 2,000 public watch hours. YouTube takes time to review and calculate the watch hours, but it turns out she managed to achieve this within her 365-day period.
Carmina’s strategy to get friends to watch your videos is simple—join their live streams.
Last Saturday, I joined a stream of someone already subscribed to Lyn but didn’t know me. Lyn checked out my channel to see who I was and mentioned that if I stayed during her live stream, one of her members would play my playlist to help me with my watch hours.
I agreed without hesitation since I’ve been doing this for my friends. It’s interesting how people don’t always realize how supportive you are until they meet you. I stayed for the entire three-hour stream from start to finish.
The next day, I noticed my public watch hours had increased. These are the videos many of my viewers have been watching.
By reviewing the list, you can identify which videos your viewers prefer and tend to engage with, giving you ideas on what content to post.
Some people claim that old videos don’t count toward public watch hours, but that’s not true. My screenshot proves this, as most of those videos are from the past.
When I wasn’t focused on monetization, I thought it was impossible because of all the negative comments I heard from others.
Having a YouTube channel allows us to connect with people worldwide and meet those with whom we share common interests.
Although we may not meet them in person, we get a sense of who they are when we join their live streams or watch their videos.
Since receiving my Gcash card, I’ve been donating memberships to my friends who have supported me with watch hours or have been there since the beginning of my YouTube journey.
Those who aren’t fully monetized have been giving super chats to my friends to support them as well.
I see it as a mutual exchange—helping each other along the way. Some people use YouTube as a source of income, while others do it purely for fun. None of us really know what comes next once we reach the same level as our peers.
Carmina hasn’t faced any problems because my videos have sparked a lot of changes, and many of my viewers have picked up on it.
The only path forward is discovering your own creativity in filming and editing, expressing who you are in your unique style.
