When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. They usually have a live band, but unfortunately, there was no entertainment the night we went. My family had spoken highly of Isla Grand and encouraged us to try the Filipino dishes we’ve been missing from back home. Lech...

Who do you give your unwanted stuff?

I am sure we have friends who are having a difficult living those who live alone or have no source of family around them.

Yet we are the lucky ones who can give what we no longer need by giving to someone else.

Carmina looked at her belonging checking what she can give away to Becky.

First, I remembered Becky needed a wall calendar that she can note down her reminders. Mom Violy had given it to me last year when she had purchased some medication.

Becky was the first person who had asked if I had a spare calendar to give to her.

I saw an alcohol spray bottle that was lingering inside our sink cabinet. I asked Becky if she wanted it for her personal use.

I remembered Becky informing her that her phone is dying, and she needs a power bank. I was able to charge it since it is not compatible with my phone. I decided to give it to Becky.

Becky had informed me that her girdle I had given to her the past no longer fits because it had stretched out. Or what we call overused since she only had one pieces to wear and wash it again.

I made some purchase on my own, yet I didn't like it not my kind of girdle I would like to wear for myself.

Good thing it can be in good use for Becky for her Wellness maintain her tummy.

Carmina had some snacks and Korean ramen soup that can give Becky some energy. Becky doesn't eat Korean products since it is mild not spicy. I am sure she can tolerate eating it.

Carmina gave Becky one box of taco shells and some ketchup you get for free when you purchase food to be delivered to your home.

Carmina knows Becky too well that she has a sweet tooth. Becky wasn't able to go to Baguio with us she had given her some crinkles to try with a variety of flavors from ube, strawberry and pandan.

I also had buttered toast of 3 small individual packs.

I had tried Colegate toothbrush I didn't like it was too soft. I gave it to Becky for her to use on her own.

Becky was asking if I had any more chocolate to remove her dizziness when she commutes. I had checked and found white chocolate bark that was given last Christmas from someone giving it to me.

One piece of dark chocolate that was given on my last trip in California.

I was defrosting my refrigerator. I saw some chicken nuggets in the freezer. I had packed it up to give to Becky.

Becky has informed me chicken nuggets are her favorite.

Normally after cleaning my refrigerator, I would give my food to the employees working for us. Yet I decided to give those who have no source of income.

I asked Becky if she had any more shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion. Becky said, good I had asked her because she was running out

When you have travelled a lot, you tend to get a variety of the shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion given by the hotels.

I've had also given some to our employees during the Christmas holidays by placing in a nice loot bag.
