Do you know the main purpose to have a US Passport and Philippine Passport?

Carmina had a question from a friend asking what the main purpose having a Philippine Passport if you already have a US Passport.

Carmina had explained when you are only a US Passport carrier and you end up over staying for one year in the Philippines you'll be asked to pay for taxes upon arriving Immigration at the airport.

A way to prevent paying taxes is to file for Dual Citizenship yet some people say your not required to have additional passport just along your Certificate Re-acquisition/ Retention Philippine Citizenship of with you for evidence.

In the past Carmina had problems when she was travelling leaving the Philippines sometimes the Immigration are strict asking for your Certificate Re-acquisition/ Retention Philippine Citizenship documents even if you have both passports with you.

Just based on my experiences I learned to bring my original Certificate Re-acquisition/ Retention of Philippine Citizenship and copies just in case they need to keep it with them.

It maybe a hassle brings it with you every time you travel although you don't want to experience and getting stress.

Might as well obey the rules and bring it with you.

Just to prevent any hassle Carmina prefer to have two passports to carry one is our US Passport and Philippine Passport.

Carmina carries copies of her US Passport and Philippine Passport just in case it gets stolen from us.

We need to make sure our passport is six months before it will be expired in order to travel.

Just in case your Philippine Passport will expire or you don't have one some people just use the Certificate Re-acquisition/ Retention Philippine Citizenship to travel outside of the Philippines.

How do you use both US Passport and Philippine Passport?

Example:

DEPARTURE:

Carmina is leaving Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) she will present the US Passport to the ticket booth along with her E-Ticket.

Reaching to Immigration you will show the US Passport and Philippine Passport to have it both stamped.

ARRIVAL:

Upon your arrival heading to Immigration Carmina would give them her US Passport to have it stamped.

Returning to Manila, Philippines from Any Country:

DEPARTURE:

Carmina will have her US Passport stamped at the Immigration.

ARRIVAL:

Carmina will have both US Passport and Philippine Passport stamped this way the Immigration has records where you've enter.

Do you know the advantages of having two passports?

Did you know there are some countries if you use your Philippines Passport you don't need a visa to enter?

Example:

If you're using a Philippine Passport upon travelling to Vietnam you don't need to apply for a visa.

Yet if you decide upon only having a US Passport you'll be need a visa to enter too Vietnam.

Story:

Years ago Mom Violy wanted to travel to Vietnam and she only had a US Passport. Mom Violy didn't know if you are using a US Passport you need to apply for a visa.

Carmina was also travelling with Mom Violy and her friend who had a Philippine Passport.

When we had reached the ticket booth for Cebu Pacific Airlines the person had informed Mom Violy she cannot fly because she doesn't have a visa to enter Vietnam.

Mom Violy didn't want Carmina and her friend to leave her behind even if she cannot get her refund.

Mom Violy learned the hard way.

In case you want to travel to Europe those who have a US Passport you don't need a visa to enter their country.

However if you have a Philippine Passport you need an invitation in order to enter inside the country.

Either way there are advantages being a dual citizenship in any countries where you want to walk and enter inside.

Always do your research when upon booking your flight to check if you need a visa to enter the country you plan to visit and inquire with your travel agent.
