Want to restore a 40-year-old decoration to its former glory? Try these simple, safe cleaning tricks that won’t damage the finish.

Have you ever seen a decoration your parents kept, carrying it with them from another country or a previous marriage? Carmina realized that parents often hold onto items they've purchased in the past. While browsing Greenhill's shopping center, she stepped into  Mystic Gems by Bensani and saw so many nostalgic items that reminded her of growing up.  I pointed out to Mom Violy that she had a similar crystal tree decoration at home. She said it was forty years old and already dirty. The saleslady explained it could be cleaned easily with soap and water. Carmina decided to take Mom Violy home and bring the crystal tree decoration with her. Mom Violy questioned why she was taking it, and I said I would clean it and return it.  I noticed Mom Violy had placed planting seeds inside the decoration, for reasons I didn’t understand. Before cleaning it, I checked online to see what was needed, knowing its value. I placed a towel underneath, prepared a plastic container with dishwas...

Carmina's Memorial Weekend Year 2017 at Mendocino and Fort Bragg, California

Carmina was in town visiting her family and friends in the United States. Every year, she enjoyed exploring new places or spots her family and friends had shared on social media.

She had a best friend from high school with whom she kept in touch despite living in the Philippines for many years.

Tips:

When I visited Mendocino and Fort Bragg in May, it was still cold, so my friend advised me to bring a thick jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt to layer with other clothes.

Wearing sneakers is ideal for outings that involve nature.

Don’t forget to bring a camera and a selfie stick if you like taking photos with your mobile phone.

A short getaway is a great way to catch up with friends, splitting all expenses equally.

The drive to Mendocino, California, took about three hours.

Carmina’s best friend booked a stay at the Glass Beach Inn on May 28, 2017, located at 726 N Main Street, Fort Bragg, California, United States.

We shared a room at the Dana Campbell, pretending we were managing our own boat.

Breakfast is provided each morning as a set meal for all guests staying at the Glass Beach Inn.

Staying at a B&B (Bed & Breakfast) lets you enjoy the warmth of someone else's home, greeted with a smile as you arrive. It feels cozy and welcoming, with hosts often offering suggestions for activities and ways to explore nature.

For a visit to Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, Mendocino, the best option is to drive and park at the designated lot. You won't miss it—just look for the sparkling pebbles covering the ground.

You might come across seamen returning from offshore fishing trips, walking around with their fishing poles and interesting catches. You'll also see plenty of families and children enjoying their time, playing together. Sometimes, you might even spot someone fishing with their dog, much like the scene in the background of my photo.

Places to eat if you're craving for pizza is at Round Table.

As you drive around, you'll come across a small town with charming shops, a church, and pleasant spots to stroll through the neighborhood.

First, you can admire the beauty of Mendocino through the photos Carmina captured using her selfie monopod.

Heading back home was a chance to capture photos of the trees, roads, and nature, leaving us with memories we can always look back on whenever we want to.

Carmina and her friend enjoyed connecting with nature during Memorial Weekend, a popular three-day holiday perfect for exploring new places.

It's a good idea to book accommodations in advance to avoid higher rates during the peak season.
