Want to restore a 40-year-old decoration to its former glory? Try these simple, safe cleaning tricks that won’t damage the finish.

Have you ever seen a decoration your parents kept, carrying it with them from another country or a previous marriage? Carmina realized that parents often hold onto items they've purchased in the past. While browsing Greenhill's shopping center, she stepped into  Mystic Gems by Bensani and saw so many nostalgic items that reminded her of growing up.  I pointed out to Mom Violy that she had a similar crystal tree decoration at home. She said it was forty years old and already dirty. The saleslady explained it could be cleaned easily with soap and water. Carmina decided to take Mom Violy home and bring the crystal tree decoration with her. Mom Violy questioned why she was taking it, and I said I would clean it and return it.  I noticed Mom Violy had placed planting seeds inside the decoration, for reasons I didn’t understand. Before cleaning it, I checked online to see what was needed, knowing its value. I placed a towel underneath, prepared a plastic container with dishwas...

Adventure in Pagsanjan Falls 2017

Mom Violy's granddaughter visited the Philippines along with her best friend’s family, who were experiencing the country for the first time. To create lasting memories, they planned an adventure to Pagsanjan Falls in Cavinti, Laguna. The journey to their destination would take 2 hours and 33 minutes, not accounting for stopovers and traffic in the Philippines.

Carmina's sister booked a tour guide who arranged a van to pick us up, followed by a one-hour boat ride each way to reach the destination. Meals are included, so make sure to inform them in advance if there are any foods you cannot eat.

The tour guide will not accompany you during the boat ride experience but will wait for you at the meal area.

Tips:

Bring extra clothing as you will get wet during the boat ride and waterfall visit.

Wear swimming shoes and lightweight clothing that won't feel heavy when wet, making it easier to walk around.

Sunglasses are a good idea since it can get very sunny.

Showers are available after the boat ride, so bring your own toiletries and a towel. Lockers will be provided to store your belongings.

Apply sunscreen before the boat ride to protect your skin.

Bring a water-resistant mobile phone or ensure your gadgets are properly protected.

Carmina lent her waterproof camera to capture photos and videos during the trip for her niece. Her water-resistant phone also worked fine for taking pictures and videos during the boat ride.

Helmets and life jackets will be provided at the booking area for the Pagsanjan Falls boat ride.

Mom Violy, who isn’t into swimming, chose to wear a tank top and lightweight casual pants for her adventure.

Mom Violy had no idea what she was getting herself into, especially since she's not particularly into water sports.

Our plan, with my niece, is to get Mom Violy wet under the waterfall.

You'll be paired up in your boat with either two or three others, along with the person who will be managing the boat for you.

The person moves the boat by foot, which is quite challenging as they manage to guide you while you enjoy the bumpy ride. During our boat ride, Mom Violy couldn’t grasp why the boatman didn’t simply row the boat. She asked plenty of questions, and there was a sound effect in the background when Carmina recorded a video of us together.

Enjoy the beauty of nature as we journey toward our destination and gather with the rest of the group.

We have arrived at our destination to get a closer look at the Pagsanjan Falls.

Do you notice where Mom Violy is sitting on the raft?

Mom Violy is at the front with her granddaughter, perfectly positioned to get soaked by the Pagsanjan Falls.

We love pulling pranks on Mom Violy when she doesn’t realize what she’s getting into, but the best part is she rarely complains.

It’s heartwarming to see her bonding with her granddaughter.

You had the chance to explore the cave, but Mom Violy chose to stay on the raft instead.

Carmina is sharing photos of us with the wet look after riding the raft to get close to the Pagsanjan Falls, before heading back to where we started our boat ride.

Looking back, you can see how people lived near the water, how they washed their clothes, and get a glimpse of the surroundings and the back view of their homes.

Savor your Filipino meal before returning to the spot where the tour guide picked you up this morning.

Now that you've discovered something new, if you decide to visit the Philippines, make sure to experience an adventure at Pagsanjan Falls. There's no age limit, so even seniors can enjoy a glimpse of nature's beauty.
