Carmina's review on Summit Hotel in Tacloban

Last year my dad had informed me he will be getting married in Tacloban the place his wife grew up in the Philippines . My dad said he would like all of his family members to attend since they couldn't go to the one in the United States. Carmina booked her flight during Philippine Airlines ’ year-end sale at the start of 2026. I told my dad about my travel plans for a short trip from Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 19. My cousins also asked for my flight details so they could book the same flight. My dad said he will book my room for me sharing with two family members at  Summit Hotel in Tacloban . Sending me the confirmation booking information for my reference.  As the months went by, before I knew it, the big day had finally arrived—a rare event that doesn’t happen too often. Everything had been carefully planned by my dad and his wife, Tita Cielo. When we arrived, the check-in time was 2 PM, but there was a mix-up with the rooms. Some were ready for check-in, but the one...

Panda Express Chinese Kitchen

Eating Panda Express Chinese Kitchen brings back so many great memories of my hometown. My mom used to buy it at Nordstrom Rack in the Marina in San Leandro Shopping Mall after our shopping trips, and we’d take it home for lunch or dinner. Now, I can enjoy my favorite food without needing to fly back to California. For those unfamiliar with Panda Express, you can create a plate with two or three entrées and a side of your choice. The picture shown features Kung Pao Chicken, Eggplant Tofu, and Chow Mein.

The plate for two entree and side is PHP 330.00 ($6.60)

Bowl:

1 Entrée and 1 Side of your choice

PHP 234.00 ($4.68)

I couldn't stop laughing at the size of the small entrée of Kung Pao Chicken. I think I made a big mistake with the size selection since this is my first time ordering from the Philippines. It was online, so I had no clue how the sizes would compare to California.

Oh well, it's here now, and it's my mistake based on my own judgment. Good thing I ordered another entrée to share with my family.

You can clearly compare the sizes, with the orange chicken served in the larger container and the Kung Pao Chicken placed right next to it.

I decided to give their mango sago a try to see if it would pass my test.

Mango Sago is PHP 144.00 ($2.88).

Orange Chicken tastes just like it does back home; the flavor hasn’t changed at all.

Kung Pao Chicken is perfect for those who enjoy spicy food, and the taste is still delicious.

Eggplant Tofu, my favorite vegetable dish, is spicy and completely satisfied my cravings.

Chow Mein tastes just like it does back home—nothing is missing, and I love eating noodles.

Fried Rice is okay.

Mango Sago reminds me of the mango graham crackers we make in the Philippines.

Of course, we get a free treat with a fortune cookie, revealing what our future holds on a small piece of paper.
