I was traveling recently my mom and Tita Edna or any
elderly person who comes in mind had a difficult time when they had reached
Immigration when you had to use those self help machine to scan up your
passport than going and lining up for immigration in person to have your
passport stamped.
My mom had a hard time understanding even if the machine
showed how you are suppose to do it by giving instructions on the screen.
Sometimes older people don’t pay attention to the given instructions when they
are on panic mode.
In their mind is I can’t do this or I can’t figure it out.
They don’t want to try and follow the instructions given.
Each time I had entered to Immigration I had to make sure I
was always the last person and make sure my mom and Tita Edna was guided to the
proper procedure.
There are two types of machine:

How to use:
- Place your passport face down where your picture is located slide inside let it scan
- On the screen there will be questions to answer
- Click Done
- Wait for the stub to be printed and pull out on the left bottom side
- The screen will tell you when you are allowed to remove your passport
- Proceed to fall in line to Immigration.
What is EPassport gates are automated self service operated
located at the immigration check points in arrival in airports.
How to use:
- Scan your documents:
- Place your passport showing your picture face down and insert it inside
- The gate will open upon accomplishment.
- Proceed to the gate
- Place your foot located on the yellow or highlighted area
- Face the screen
- Make sure you remove the following before taking a picture remove eyeglasses, sunglasses and facial masks
- Look at the camera as you press your right hand’s forefinger against the scanner
- Claim your arrival sticker receipt
Note:
It is all done individual no companion is required during
this procedure even people on wheel chair.
My mom couldn’t understand you need to stand on the yellow
portion on the floor where it show your suppose to put two foot and look at the
camera facing forward you.
My mom was rejected and was sent to the person to stamp her
passport.
Don't worry if you don't receive a receipt it doesn't mean you have been rejected. It is link to your passport and you don't need to re-do it just proceed to the line.
