Mobile Phone Experience

Every one year or two years I would get a new mobile phone depending on my family needing a new phone. I am the only girl and I get the new gadget that comes out in the market. I have a phone carrier through Globe in the Philippines.

Our contract is every two years. I have four accounts from Globe. I have two accounts that the expiration date falls the same year. The other two interchange to the next following year. This way I get a new mobile phone every year.

The first time I had a mobile phone was the iPhone 4s that just came out in the market during those year. I had my iPhone just for two weeks. It was stolen from me when I was shopping at Tutuban. It was the worse experience I have ever encountered in my life.

I realized that point in my life bringing an expensive mobile phone in Divisoria Mall is not safe in the Philippines. I never brought out my phone in public.

There was a lady who dressed really nice and expensive clothing. She wore black sunglasses. She wasn't alone that time. It look like she was with a group of friends during that time of incident. The suspect kept following my mom at that time. My mom asked, the lady why she was being followed. She went away from her. I was just standing opposite from my mom. I was expecting a phone call from my son. He had final exams during that time. He was planning to call me up so I can inform his driver to pick him up from school.

I had used a messenger bag the cross body type of bag. I went to check on my phone and found out my zipper was open and my phone was no longer in my bag.

I had informed the security guard and they brought me to a room where all the CCTV camera. We watched and looked for the lady who took my phone.
The worse of all I found out those security guard are a part of the crime. They all work together.

I never got my iPhone back.

From that point I never went back having an iPhone. I had down grade and went to a Nokia that was android at that time. I wanted to stay low key away from those expensive phones.

As years passed by it was time to go back having an expensive phone when my son needed a phone for high school?

I never gave my son's a brand new phone. They always started from a hand me down that I have used before. I wanted my son to learn the value of the phone before I would start him having an expensive phone.

During that year I had the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The phone was fine, but too big to carry around.

Year later my son who was graduating from high school needed another phone for college. I gave him my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and I went too another phone. The Samsung Galaxy s7 which was a smaller phone compared what I had before.

My son who attended college at University of San Tomas taking up Electronic Engineer he was walking out of the campus with his friends to do a group project. He had placed the phone in his pocket of his pants. Someone took it from him as he was only walking. He didn't realize it was missing until he needed the phone. He was in panic mode. He didn't know how to tell his parents that the phone he had was missing.

My son made up a story. He said, he had a friend who was interested getting a phone like his. He wanted to know how much would it cost.

From that point of his story I knew there was something fishy and the driver who was with him at that time had already informed me that my son's phone was stolen from him,

I had informed my son it is okay if your phone was stolen from you. Just be smart and tell us the truth. I have been there and I know how it is too get a phone taken away from you.

I was able to get him a phone that he liked this time it wasn't a Samsung Brand since he had a bad experience from that high end phone. He decided to try a different brand that was lower key.

In the Philippines it is easy to get a brand new phone and pay less. From my carrier depending on your plan you can pay by monthly installment additional to your postpaid plan.

There are some people who choose to pay cash out to the point they just pay their post plan every month.

Requirements to open a plan from Globe or Smart Carrier:

1.    Show proof of residence
      2.    Statement of bill payment under your name
      3.    Source of income with pay stub from your employer
      4.    ID Picture for example: Driver's License, Passport, Student ID or Postal ID
Requirement for Retire:

1.    Proof of residence
      2.    Statement of bill payment such as electric or water bill
      3.    ID Picture

If, you don't have a employee pay stub you can go under your parent's account. There is no limit how many accounts you open from that carrier.

There is another carrier that is not really strict to get approved which is Sun Cellular. Only thing their  signal is not reach able in some provinces.
  • Requirement ID Picture
You can have a contact with them for six to nine months. Just to build up your credit.

Every policy changes from the carrier. It is best to inquire about your post plan.

There are some people who choose to buy their phone from Home Credit and use a prepaid Sim card.

Other people don't want to have a loan they just purchase their phone from the department store.

There are a lot of ways to buy a high technology mobile phone.

Every time I travel my close friends are so curious how did I get a new phone that hasn't come out from the States.

When I bring my phone with me when I travel I feel I am the only person in that planet who has that new phone.

In the stores they don't carry phone cases only the plastic ones. I always buy my phone cases online once I have already pre-ordered my phone from my carrier.

This way when I receive my brand new phone the phone cases has already been delivered to my home.

What is the best case cover for your phone?
  • Hard shell case that are anti drop works best of all. You will not be afraid if your phone has accidentally drop on the phone. The hard shell has three parts of the case. I find it durable although your phone will seem a slightly heavier than the actual weight of your phone.
  • The book type that covers the front of your phone. The only disadvantage is when you love taking a picture it is a hassle holding the flap up.
Never buy the plastic cases it will heat up when you charge your phone. It is best to remove your phone cases when you charge your phone. Best way is always turn off your mobile phone when charging.

Never charge your phone when you are asleep and near places where it is prohibited.

Every time I have a new phone and my family member choose not to get it from me. I sell it to my employees whom I work with. I have a promissory note to agree upon the payment they pay me every 15th and the end of the month.

The amount they pay is PHP 500.00 ($10.00) per salary.

I sell my phone the value of used phone depending how much it is worth. The employees are so happy they can get a phone that is hard to purchase somewhere else.

This way other people can use your phone instead of going to waste.

It is best to be wise and smart and still earn an income.
