When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. They usually have a live band, but unfortunately, there was no entertainment the night we went. My family had spoken highly of Isla Grand and encouraged us to try the Filipino dishes we’ve been missing from back home. Lech...

Child Becomes 6 Months to One Year Old

Your baby turn six months it is best to put them in a high chair when they start learning to eat.

Tips:

  1. Have a mat underneath the high chair.
  2. Use baby spoon and bowls made of plastic
  3. Bib

They say it is better to feed the baby home made food. It all depends on you. There are some parents who prefer making their child's food from scratch or some just buy ready made baby food bought in the grocery store.

In the beginning of your child you will be trying variety of food to see what he/she will like the most. There will be times they don't like the taste and that is normal. There will be food that may get allergy. It is best you have a notebook and write which ones they like the most and get allergy reaction.

I had also used a bouncer and walker to use in the house.

Baby turns one year old. It is best to start training them off the bottle and start using a non spill sipper cup. In the beginning your child will throw it and not want to drink from the sipper cup. Your child will get frustrated from themselves not able to drink from it.

Slowly they will adjust to it.

This is the point when you start making your home safety by adding covers on your wall socket, table edge corner protection. Remove all breakables in your home so your child will not run into them.

I had placed my son inside the super yard indoor eight panel freestanding gate. I hung educational toys on the side. This way your child will hold on and learn to walk around it. I would turn on the television and play children's educational shows. That time Sesame Street was in and Blue's Clue. I had played shows from a DVD with no commercials.

I had soft bed foam for your child to seat on while watching television this way he/she would have a place to seat in his/her comfort.

You would still be able to do house chorus.

Your child can start learning how to put their toys away to give them sense of responsibility.

Tips:

When you celebrate your child's one year birthday it is a big deal for every parent. It is best to register your child's birthday and choose practicial gifts for the guest to buy. I learn this is the easy way and your gifts doesn't get duplicate. This way you can save more money on expenses on things you will need for your child.

Pick a theme your child loves by the character of the show or what they are into it makes life easier on you.

Always ask extra help from their God Parents or from family members.

It will be difficult for you to do it alone.

Have loot bags for kids who will be attending the birthday party. Make sure you have enough for everyone.

If, you know a family member visiting the Philippines before your child's birthday it is inexpensive to purchase loot bags items from 168 Shopping Mall or the place they call it Divisoria.

You can purchase them online at Oriental Trading, Amazon, Ebay and etc.
