Tired of the new rules, Carmina closed her Google Maps account — what pushed her over the edge?

It’s been months since Carmina last posted on her Google Maps. I started doing it just for fun, exploring new places to dine and travel, and sharing those spots with others. Back in 2017, I wasn’t even blogging yet. Over the years, I received numerous email updates about changes, but in September, the removal of followers on Google Maps felt particularly strange. There’s no point in complaining about it. I decided not to close my account, as it wasn’t an option, but I did delete all the photos I had contributed over the years. I have fond memories of seeing which photos were popular and had hoped to share them with you. It was surprising to see how many views my pictures had accumulated. While deleting them, I noticed that many restaurants and bakeries no longer exist, with some marked as unknown on the map. Most of my photos were from the pandemic period, a time when I could fully express myself and write about the food I enjoyed. Let's take a trip down memory lane with Carmina th...

Mad Crab

Carmina had been craving crab and joked about being mad if she couldn’t satisfy her craving in the Philippines. In truth, she had been longing for crab and shrimp, which she hadn’t eaten in a long time. Her mom, the only other person who loves eating crab, mentioned she was tired of it but wouldn’t mind packing some shrimp to take home.

Carmina decided to order on her own and discovered Mad Crab Philippines on Facebook. The process involved leaving a message requesting the menu, receiving an order form, and filling it out with details such as:

Example:

Facebook Name: Carmina LS

Cellphone Number:

Address & Landmark on Waze:

Preferred Pick-Up Date: May 9, 2021

Preferred Time of Pick-Up: 11:30 AM

Orders: 750g Crab & 500g Shrimp

Crab Gender: Half Male, Half Female

Flavor: Signature Butter and Garlic

Include grams, gender, and flavor preferences. Once the order is finalized, inquire about payment methods. Carmina found GCash convenient and paid PHP 1,759.00 ($35.18). Proof of payment, like a screenshot, must be sent to Mad Crab Philippines to process the order.

Though delivery wasn’t provided, customers could arrange their own by giving the rider’s name and plate number for verification. Carmina’s order arrived in a secure plastic container, taped on the sides to ensure its safety.

This is an A+ for me, and here's why I rate Mad Crab Philippines so highly. The shrimp are huge, perfectly cooked, and the shells are easy to peel by hand. The crab has plenty of algae, which is a bonus for those who enjoy that part of the crab.

The crabs are not small—they're big, packed with meat, and the butter garlic flavor is delicious without being overpowering or overwhelming.

Carmina doesn’t eat it herself and passes it on to someone else. She even called her mom to rave about the crab and shrimp. Someone who didn’t initially want crab ended up loving the taste and kept asking where I had placed my order.
