Tired of the new rules, Carmina closed her Google Maps account — what pushed her over the edge?

It’s been months since Carmina last posted on her Google Maps. I started doing it just for fun, exploring new places to dine and travel, and sharing those spots with others. Back in 2017, I wasn’t even blogging yet. Over the years, I received numerous email updates about changes, but in September, the removal of followers on Google Maps felt particularly strange. There’s no point in complaining about it. I decided not to close my account, as it wasn’t an option, but I did delete all the photos I had contributed over the years. I have fond memories of seeing which photos were popular and had hoped to share them with you. It was surprising to see how many views my pictures had accumulated. While deleting them, I noticed that many restaurants and bakeries no longer exist, with some marked as unknown on the map. Ginataang Langka Recipe



Ginataang is a dish cooked with coconut milk in which we call gata. Langka is known for a jackfruit it is a Filipino vegetable and it is cooked with fish, shrimp and sometimes combined with hot chili pepper to make it spicy.

Ginataang Langka Recipe
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 - Fresh Langka
  • 3 - Pieces Dried Danggit (daing)
  • 1/2 Cup - Shrimp (remove shell, head and chopped)
  • 3 Cups - Fresh Gata (coconut milk)
  • 1 - Onion (chopped)
  • 3 - Cloves Garlic (chopped)
  • 1 - Tsp - Ginger (peel and shred)
  • 1 - Tsp - Salt
Cooking Instructions:
  • In a medium pot pour small amount of cooking oil when hot add the garlic, onion and ginger 
  • Add shrimp and daing
  • Add gata
  • Cook for 30 minutes
  • Season with salt
Ready to serve.
