Although you are in heaven we still celebrate your birthday
because we wish you are here on this
special day.
Yesterday it was my Lola’s birthday she would have been one
hundred plus years old.
We would always cook pancit to feed everyone in the house.
To us even if she is not with us in our spirit and memories remain with us.
There are some people who celebrate their love ones when
they have already left us. We set a prayer gather with family and friends.
We light up a candle to enlighten their spirits to wish them
a happy birthday.
We visit their grave site and bring food and flowers to have
a picnic and talk to them with our family and friends.
This way even if they are not next to us we still get to
spend time with each other.
This is how we show how much we love and gratitude our loves
ones mean to us.
