Mom Violy wanted to try Spanish food from Las Flores at Robinsons Magnolia . I remembered long time ago saw a family friend when my family was visiting beginning of the year. Mom Violy couldn't remember decided to have our lunch. Carmina decided to try out their Let's Do Lunch for 595.00 pesos ($10.26). Carmina asked for vegetable soup and Bikini sandwich which is ham and mozzarella cheese with potato chips. There is an unlimited calamansi but decided to pay additional for a Coke to share with Mom Violy. Mom Violy wasn't sure what she wanted ended up eating Gambas al Ajillo and white rice. In the beginning Mom Violy thought if she ate her gambas al Ajillo with just unlimited bread from the Las Flores she won't get full. It turned out she didn't eat that much of her rice. Mom Violy also ate my vegetable soup thinking she won't like the taste. Carmina always eats vegetable soup and just wanted something light for a meal. I didn't finish my bikini san...
Crab is my favorite seafood and when it is in season, I won't mind eat it every day. Of course that is impossible.
There are different ways to cook crab you can steam or cook it with butter and garlic whatever your heart desire.
Ingredient:
Fresh Crab
Pot of boiling water
Season with salt
Step 1:
Clean the crab before placing in boiling water.
Cook for 20 minutes depending on the size. You can tell when cooked. The shell will turn color red.
If, you have left over steam crab you can remove the meat and make it into crab torta (omelette)
Filipino Crab Torta (omelette) Recipe:
Ingredient:
Left over crab
2 - well beaten egg
1/2 - White onion (chopped)
Black pepper (depend on your taste)
Salt (depend on your taste)
Cooking oil
Step 1:
You will add the crab meat to the beaten egg, add the onion, season with black pepper and salt.
Step 2:
You will pour a small amount of cooking oil on a frying pan
Pour the ingredient
Get an extra plate and remove the pan away from the stove
Place the plate on top of the pan and slowly flip the pan
Place back the uncooked torta on the pan by placing the uncooked on the pan
It is just easier to flip it back to the pan by using a plate
Step 3:
Once cook transfer the torta on a new plate.
It is ready to eat can combine with eating with ketchup or sweet chili sauce.
Crab and Corn Egg Drop Soup Recipe:
Ingredient:
Left over cooked crab
Chicken stock
1 - cup of canned corn (drain water)
1 - Egg beaten
Black pepper (depend on your taste)
Step 1:
You will boil the chicken broth, add the crab meat and corn.
Once the soup is boiling you will add the egg that is beaten stir with a fork and season with black pepper.
Butter and Garlic Crab Recipe:
Ingredient:
1 - Stick of butter (any brand)
1 - Whole garlic (peel and chopped)
Fresh crab (steamed, legs are removed from the body, and cut the crab in the middle)
Black pepper (depend on your taste)
Step 1:
Melt the butter on a pot add the garlic, the crab and season with black pepper mix well.
The best partner is to make garlic noodles just like in the Vietnamese Restaurants.
Garlic Noodles:
Ingredient:
1- Whole garlic (peel and minced)
1- Package of Spaghetti noodles
1- 4 oz unsalted butter
2 - Tbsp Parmesan cheese
2 -Tbsp Fish Sauce (Patis)
1- Tbsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce
1 - Tbsp Oyster Sauce
Step 1:
You will cook the spaghetti noodles on the instruction of the package.
Step 2:
You will melt the butter, garlic and add all the remaining ingredients and the cooked spaghetti noodles cooked in low heat.
Ready to eat with your butter garlic crab!
Crab with Coconut Milk
Ingredient:
- 3 fat crab (Alimago)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup thick coconut milk (gata)
- 1 clove garlic (pounded)
- 2 tbsp minced onion
- 2 fresh hot pepper
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Small slice ginger
Instruction:
Step 1:
Clean crab:
- Dip in boiling water
- Open and remove all the fat lining from the shell
- Mix fat with 4 tsp salt
- Fill shell into the mixture
Step 2:
- Arrange crab in saucepan
Step 3
- Boil in 1 cup of the coconut milk (gata) with salt and
pepper
- Whole Pepper'
- Add vegetable - Optional
Step 4:
- As soon as crab is cooked
- Add thick coconut milk (gata)
- Simmer for 5 minutes until it boil
Ready to eat!
Note:
You can add kalabasa and string beans to this dish.
