Have you ever seen a decoration your parents kept, carrying it with them from another country or a previous marriage? Carmina realized that parents often hold onto items they've purchased in the past. While browsing Greenhill's shopping center, she stepped into  Mystic Gems by Bensani and saw so many nostalgic items that reminded her of growing up.  I pointed out to Mom Violy that she had a similar crystal tree decoration at home. She said it was forty years old and already dirty. The saleslady explained it could be cleaned easily with soap and water. Carmina decided to take Mom Violy home and bring the crystal tree decoration with her. Mom Violy questioned why she was taking it, and I said I would clean it and return it.  I noticed Mom Violy had placed planting seeds inside the decoration, for reasons I didn’t understand. Alamang with Kamias Recipe


When you are tired of eating the same food and want to eat other than what you normally eat from your fixed menu sometimes we crave for food that are easy to make and a dish that you can eat with fried fish to combined it's taste with something else.

What is Alamang?

Alamang are small shrimp usually made for bagoong, ukoy and vegetables. This is one shrimp I cannot eat I get allergies but my family at home love the taste.

What is Kamias?

Kamias is actually a fruit and it looks like this in the picture.
Alamang with Kamias Recipe
Ingredients:
  • 3 Cups - Fresh Alamang - micro shrimp (clean and strain)
  • 2 Cups - Kamias (cut in cubes)
  • 1 - Onion (chopped)
  • 3 - Cloves Garlic (minced)
  • Patis (fish sauce) to taste
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • Cooking Oil
Cooking Instructions:
  • In a pan add cooking oil add garlic and onion saute add fresh alamang and water let it boil
  • Add patis and black pepper
  • Add kamias
  • Best to eat when hot.
