Carmina's dad was craving for Vietnamese and wanted to bring his family have a meal. We are in the area of Brentwood, my dad remembered he used to dine in at CreAsian Wok 'n Roll . Upon entering there we're a lot of customers and the person asked how many we are seated at the table. The server handed us a menu asked us what we would like to drink. They brought out pitcher of iced water with glasses for us to pour our own water. My dad ordered a grilled lemongrass chicken combo with egg, shrimp, and an egg roll . Family member ordered basil leaf with chicken and garlic rice . Another family member had ordered a large Creation Special soup to share with everyone. Filipino Langka is made from jack fruit it is cooked with gata which is coconut milk. Often our employees eat this has their meal with matching fried fish of your choice.
Filipino Langka Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 10 pieces small shrimp (peel and remove head)
- 3 pieces garlic (minced)
- 2 kilo langka young jack fruit (chopped)
- 3 pieces coconut or 5 cups of gata (coconut)
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- Patis (fish sauce) depends on your taste
- 2 pieces green chili pepper
- 1 Onion (chopped)
Cooking Method:
- 2 tbs cooking oil placed in medium pot
- Saute garlic and onion
- Add shrimp, langka, green chili pepper, gata and seasoning
- Mix together as you are cooking
- Fully cook for 30 minutes until tender and soft
