Mom Violy and Carmina’s dining experience at Dean & DeLuca

  Mom Violy told me she wanted to order the Paella Negra from Dean & Deluca. Carmina suggested we dine in since we’d never really tried their main courses, always just getting takeout with the cream puffs . Mom Violy agreed, and we arrived about thirty minutes before the lunch rush began. The service was very slow, even though we had ordered ahead of time. They mistakenly brought out the Paella Valenciana , despite Mom Violy repeating the order three times to the person who took it. It turned out the cook on duty made the error, even though it was written down clearly. We know Paella Negra takes a long time to prepare, which is why Mom Violy had requested it to be cooked beforehand. She wanted it as her main meal, but because of the mix-up and feeling hungry, she took a piece of Carmina’s Turkey Club Sandwich and asked for the bacon on the side. Steamed Lapu Lapu with Mayonnaise Recipe


Yesterday Manang V was making her grocery list and mentioned she needed mayonnaise for her menu on steamed lapu lapu with mayonnaise.

Carmina had informed Manang V she has mayonnaise and it will expire on September 24, 2021.

Today, Carmina went to the kitchen to see what the menu would be it is steamed lapu lapu with mayonnaise.

Manang V asked Carmina can you help me assemble the steam lapu lapu for me. I have other food to cook and I am quite busy.

Carmina said no problem letting Manang V she will get her phone to take a picture of it to put the recipe in my blog.

Steamed Lapu Lapu with Mayonnaise Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 - Fresh Lapu Lapu (clean inside and outside)
  • 1 - Thumb size ginger (peel and slice thinly)
  • 3 Tsp - Sesame Oil
  • 1Tbsp - Green Onion (chopped)
  • Salt
  • 1/4 Cup - Water
  • Red Bell Pepper (chopped and steamed)
  • 3 Pieces Hard Boiled Egg (chopped)
  • Pickle Relish
  • 1 Piece - Carrot (peel, chopped and steamed)
  • Mayonnaise (any brand)

Preparing Lapu - Lapu:

  1. Rub salt on the lapu lapu on the outside and add the ginger inside the fish and set aside on a plate.

Steamer:

  1. In the steamer place aluminum foil rub cooking oil on lapu lapu preventing it to stick during the process being steamed up.
  2. In a steamer boil water once hot place lapu lapu inside and have it cooked for 25 minutes with water, sesame oil and ginger.

Assemble the Steamed Lapu Lapu:

  • Transfer the steamed lapu lapu on serving plate and use a serving spoon to add to the side. 

  • Spread mayonnaise on the steamed lapu lapu.


  • Add bell pepper starting from the tail using a fork to guide you through the process carrot, pickle relish and hard boiled egg.


  • You are ready to serve your steamed lapu lapu with mayonnaise.
Manang V said she feels bad to touch the steamed lapu lapu since it took time for Carmina to assemble the ingredients on it.
