When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. Gyudon and Steak Teppan from Soru Izakaya

From an expensive Japanese restaurant we didn't expect the food to arrive in a small plastic container we've been ordering through different restaurant but never encounter a small portion of food.

For someone who can eat a normal meal this won't be enough for one person they will need to add additional orders.

When you're in a budget this will be over your own expenses when you see the food compared to other Japanese Restaurant we've eaten you can see how the portion from Soru Izakaya is too small.

Gyudon PHP 325.00 ($6.50)

It can be great advantages to those who are on diet or a small eater.

The steak teppan the family member was expecting to have rice with the meal. Having to separate the vegetables from the meal made it look small for someone who doesn't eat vegetables.

Steak Teppan PHP 475.00 ($9.50)

The person who was working during that time I had placed my order had called me up letting me know they cannot avoid not adding the vegetables while everything is being portion. I just allowed Soru Izakaya to add it in a separate container either it can be consume by someone else.

The Gyudon and Steak Teppan from Soru Izakaya is appealing on it's flavor just the portion is too small.

Just in case you want to try their food at Soru Izakaya go ahead and see what you're experience will be compared to the family member.
