When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. They usually have a live band, but unfortunately, there was no entertainment the night we went. My family had spoken highly of Isla Grand and encouraged us to try the Filipino dishes we’ve been missing from back home. Lech...

Saying Good Bye

Have you've ever had a moment you cannot sleep and you're wide awake?

I started watching my Korean television series online the title of the show is More Than Friends. I was on an episode occurred the character's mom was in the hospital saying their goodbye to her children due to an illness she had.

I couldn't stop crying and I began thinking what happen to me how I will be able to cope in that situation.

I was watching the next episode at the viewing of the funeral to say your last good bye having close friends gathered around you supporting you during your toughest moment made me realize if I had those kinds of friends.

In case one day it comes into that situation who will be there to guide and support me you really don't have friends who like talking about death.

I have friends who are against that topic.

One day it will happen to us.

I woke up looking at my social media and saw my mom's best friend had passed away. Just occurred to me if any of this was related why I couldn't sleep last night you never know what people do when the spirit of someone close to us is giving us a hint.

There are some people who don't believe in superstitious to me I sometimes believe it comes for a reason and to let us wake up and see what is really in front of us.

Two weeks ago my mom had a dream of her best friend with her husband who had recently passed away a few months ago.

Her best friend was also sick with medical condition in my mom's dream the person was having a get together along with her and her husband.

The person in her dream was the two couples I had mentioned and next you know she had followed her spouse to heaven.

Do you believe if one spouse has passed away the other person can guide that person to heaven?

It has happened to a lot of my mom's close friends in the past just the thought if you had missed each other and you also have medical condition one day you can also leave your family behind when that time comes in a period of our life.
