Life and It's Changes

I remember when my son was the only child. I had informed my son we need to go out to attend a birthday party. My son said, he can't go because his friends cannot be left behind.

I asked him what friends you are talking about. I don't see anyone else in our home.

He said, his friends are the scooby doo gang.

I realize my son had this imaginary friend all caught in his head.

He said, they are a lot and the people who we are attending a party might complain that they are a lot.

I told my son I am sure they wouldn't mind.

I realized to myself I need to change my son's behavior. Too much television and having less social ability to mingle with other kids seem not that pleasant to hear from my son having a set of imaginary friends.

I don't think it is normal to be talking to you in public. What may someone think of you?

I started setting up play dates for my son. He would be able to play with other kids his age. I brought him to the park. Let him play and explore with other kids.

I place him in gymboree play and music which was a class available for him. The classes were held for mother and child.

His scobby doo friend in his mind went away and he started attending school every day.

There was one time I was working at Mervyn's after my pregnancy. I was passing by and I heard someone talking to herself. In my mind I was thinking who is that person talking too.

As days passed by and I kept passing by the counter and still hearing this person talking to herself. I felt strange, but I was so curious to check and see who this person was.

I ate in the cafeteria with my entire office mate. I was new at the company and I didn't know any one yet.

Kate, Jim and George asked me to join their table. They had prepared their own lunch meals that came from home.

Kate's husband owned a donut shop during that time. She always brought donuts to share with her office mates.

She became my best friend during that time. We had carpooled with each other.

One day George said, I have a friend I would like you to meet. He said, this is Lin. when I heard Lin spoke the voice seemed so familiar. It was the voice of the girl who was talking to herself at the counter as I had passed by.

Lin and I became best of friends. We had always set up play dates for our family to meet each other.

Even till now they are all my friends even if I live miles away from them.

You never know who you end up meeting and how our friendship grew as we got older.
