Carmina says Bebang’s halo-halo is summer in a spoon — but is it the real deal or just pretty colors in a cup?

Since last year, Mom Violy and Carmina had been wanting to try the much-talked-about  Bebang's Halo-Halo , but even when we passed by, the timing was never right. Mom Violy kept saying she’d wait until a branch opened closer to us. Then Becky told Carmina there was one along her commute route to work. The best part was that the Tomas Morato branch in Quezon City had just opened. When we arrived at CTTM Square , we found plenty of restaurants on the second floor. While checking the menu, we let the customers behind us order first. Mom Violy asked them for recommendations, and they suggested the Presidential for first timers. Unlike other places, Bebang’s Halo-Halo doesn’t have size options—everything comes in a standard size, making ordering easier. Seniors and PWDs get a discount per order, and you’re given something that lights up when your halo-halo is ready for pickup. Service was quick, so the wait wasn’t long at all. Each order comes in its own green plastic bag with a table...

Mom Violy Craving for ICHO Japanese Restaurant

Many of us who still have parents living close to you can relate to this they are getting older there will be moments when they will depend on you.

I've noticed my own mother that she will continue to repeat herself for the hours you're with her. No matter if you've heard it many times can sound a broken record.

The funny thing when you repeat yourself to them, they get annoyed with you.

Mom Violy had informed me that she would like to eat at ICHO Japanese Restaurant

The date I am to pick up Mom Violy after doing some of our morning errands.

I had informed Mom Violy it has been five years last dined inside ICHO Japanese Restaurant. Mom Violy couldn't remember when she last ate at the restaurant. I reminded it was with her friends Mom Lolet and Tita Edna being introduced to one another.

It is a good thing some of us have good memories to remind our parents details they cannot recall.

Upon entering the person who approached us asked if we had a reservation. I said, no. The person said let me look for a table for you. She had handed us the menu. We requested for cold water.

Mom Violy is not the type who like to explore from the menu her typical order is chicken teriyaki, miso soup, California maki, shrimp and vegetable tempura.

Life is reverse when our mother wanted us to try new food during our youthful years.

I had ordered the alligator roll sushi for Mom Violy to try.

Mom Violy doesn't eat raw sushi. I had to make sure everything was cooked.

Mom Violy liked it just that she had removed the eel saying looks like a snake. 🤣

It was alright as long Mom Violy was able to try a new item adding to her favorite.

Some ways we share our meals with our family to try our food.

My main course was mixed prawns and vegetable tempura with rice. Mom Violy ate some of my sweet potato tempura which was alright since I am a lite eater.

Family member ordered beef cubes, katsu don and lemonade.
