Carmina realized that parents often hold onto items they've purchased in the past. While browsing Greenhill's shopping center, she stepped into  Mystic Gems by Bensani and saw so many nostalgic items that reminded her of growing up.  I pointed out to Mom Violy that she had a similar crystal tree decoration at home. She said it was forty years old and already dirty. The saleslady explained it could be cleaned easily with soap and water. Carmina decided to take Mom Violy home and bring the crystal tree decoration with her. Mom Violy questioned why she was taking it, and I said I would clean it and return it.  I noticed Mom Violy had placed planting seeds inside the decoration, for reasons I didn’t understand. Homemade Fresh Lumpia with Egg Wrapper and Peanut Sauce Recipe

Labor of love takes a long time with patience to have a dish all prepared for a family to eat. Some people don't realize to cook one dish especially when it is complicated just having a relationship.

Manang V asked for Carmina assistance to help her cook fresh lumpia to read what our recipes will be by helping each other with the ingredients we need.

There are two types of fresh lumpia there is ubod or mixed vegetables. 

We decided to do something different by adding garbanzo beans that was given to us for Christmas in a basket.

We will be cooking something out of the ordinary where it will be time consuming to prepare our dish. If you have limit time this dish is not for you.

Honestly, you will need helping hands to make sure you have all ingredients prepared before you can actually combine all together.

Homemade Fresh Lumpia with Egg Wrapper and Peanut Sauce Recipe

Mixed Vegetables Ingredients:

  • 1 - Can Garbanzo Beans (remove the skin)
  • 1 - Potato (clean, peel and sliced in cubes)
  • 1 - Sweet Potato (clean, peel and sliced in cubes)
  • 3 Cups - Shredded Cabbage
  • 1 - Onion (chopped)
  • 1 Cup - String beans (chopped)
  • 3 - Tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 Cup - Sliced Tofu
  • 1 Cup - Cilantro (Wansoy)
  • Patis (to taste)
  • 1/2 Cup - Shrimp Juice
  • 1/2 Cup - Pork Broth
  • 1/2 Cup - Chopped Shrimp
  • 1 Tbsp. - Achuette (dilute with pork broth)
  • Lettuce (clean and separate)

Cooking Mixed Vegetables:
  • In a wok you will add small amount of cooking oil when hot add garlic and onion sauté add the shrimp, patis, shrimp juice and pork broth let it simmer.
  • Add sweet potato, potato let it cook for 5 minutes
  • Add string beans, garbanzo beans, cabbage, tofu, cilantro and acheutte cook it for 10 minutes until all vegetables are fully cooked.
  • Set aside and place a strainer on the vegetables to remove the sauce.
Egg Wrapper Ingredient:
  • 1 - Cup - Cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 - Water
  • 1 - Tsp. Salt
  • 1- Tsp. Sugar
  • 3 - Egg (beaten)
  • Cooking Oil
Cooking Egg Wrapper and Preparing Fresh Lumpia:

  • Make sure you're using a non stick pan and the size to form into a crepe.
  • Pour equal amount and use a spatula by forming and transferring to a plate where you can someone help you do that for you to start placing a piece of lettuce leaf and mixed vegetable ingredients.
  • Transfer each fresh lumpia to a serving plate and if you have wax paper you can wrap it so it won't break easily.
Peanut Sauce Ingredients:
  • 2 3/4 Cup - Water
  • 1/4 Cup - Soy Sauce (any brand)
  • 3/4 Cup - Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp. - Salt
  • 1 Cup - Unsalted Peanut (ground)
  • 1/2 Cup - Minced Garlic
  • 4 Tbsp. - Cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp. - Peanut Butter
Cooking of Peanut Sauce:
  • In a sauce pan you will add all ingredients together mixing well making sure everything has been dissolved and has thicken you can adjust it by adding additional amount of cornstarch depending how thick you want the peanut sauce to be.
  • Transfer it in a serving bowl best served when hot.

Manang V and Carmina was the first ones to try our new creation where hard labor of love made us stay in the kitchen four hours to prepare everything.

Carmina was teasing Manang V what happen when they request us to cook this again. We're so tired for cooking today.
