When Mom Violy spotted Crisostomo’s handwritten menu, something in her chest lit up: home-style lumpia, sinigang steaming in clay pots—could this be the comfort food she’d been missing?

Carmina informed Mom Violy that she would visit her home on Saturday, November 8, 2025. She asked if Mom Violy wanted to go out for lunch and mentioned needing to do some grocery shopping due to an upcoming big storm. Mom Violy suggested trying Crisostomo, a Filipino restaurant inside Robinsons Magnolia. Carmina forwarded the menu for her to choose what she wanted to eat, while Carmina already knew her order. I chose pork barbeque served in a set of three pieces with a vinegar dipping sauce. I skipped rice and opted for lumpiang hubad, fresh lumpia without a wrapper, topped with peanut sauce.  Mom Violy initially craved the classic Pinoy paella, but when it wasn’t available, she decided on sinigang na baboy with an extra serving of rice. Sotanghon Soup with Chicken Recipe



In every meal we need to have some soup probably you have notice every time I am posting some meals there is always a main dish and some other items in our menu from lunch and dinner.

No matter if the weather is humid in this house I live soup is always a must in every meal.

Sotanghon Soup with Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
  • 1 - Onion (sliced)
  • 2 - Cloves Garlic (chopped)
  • 1 - Piece Chicken Breast Fillet (shredded)
  • 1 - Cup Cabbage (sliced thinly)
  • 1 - Knorr Chicken cube
  • Patis (fish sauce) to taste
  • 1 Tsp - Atchuete powder
  • 1 Coil of Sotanghon noodles (cellophane noodles)
Prepare Sotanghon noodles:
  • In a bowl with cold water place sotanghon noodles once the texture is soft strain and cut it with some scissors.
  • Set aside.
Prepare Atchuete Powder:
  • In a half cup hot water adds the atchuete powder stir and let it dissolve.
Cooking Instructions:
  • In a pot you will pour small amount of cooking oil when hot add garlic and onion saute 
  • Add chicken
  • Add water and chicken cubes until dissolved
  • Add cabbage
  • Add atchuete water to your pot
  • Add sotanghon noodles
  • Add patis for your seasoning
  • Cook for 10 minutes.
  • Ready to serve in a serving bowl.
