Mom Violy and Carmina’s dining experience at Dean & DeLuca

Mom Violy told me she wanted to order the Paella Negra from Dean & Deluca. Carmina suggested we dine in since we’d never really tried their main courses, always just getting takeout with the cream puffs . Mom Violy agreed, and we arrived about thirty minutes before the lunch rush began. The service was very slow, even though we had ordered ahead of time. They mistakenly brought out the Paella Valenciana , despite Mom Violy repeating the order three times to the person who took it. It turned out the cook on duty made the error, even though it was written down clearly. We know Paella Negra takes a long time to prepare, which is why Mom Violy had requested it to be cooked beforehand. She wanted it as her main meal, but because of the mix-up and feeling hungry, she took a piece of Carmina’s Turkey Club Sandwich and asked for the bacon on the side. I didn’t expect the turkey to be just one piece, and the bread was toasted so hard that it removed one layer of the sandwich. Since ...

Yana's Travel Wellness from Los Angeles to the Philippines

Carmina wanted to get a different point of view when coming from another area in California to see how it was like visiting the Philippines.

Carmina asked her cousin Yana if she would like to participate to let us know the feeling visiting her family members during the pandemic.

Carmina asked Yana some questions to answer by emailing it to her and sending photos/videos during her vacation.

Giving Carmina permission to share it in Carmina Lifestyle.

Yana's Traveling Wellness from Los Angeles to the Philippines

Coming from Los Angeles, there is a big difference from traveling during the pandemic compared to when life was normal. The travel regulations are very strict in the Philippines. It's too hassle to go to your hotel accommodations. You pass through an inspection such as an x-ray machine. Not only that, but you also have to show proof of your Covid-19 vaccination card every time you step in the hotel entrance.  You have to wear mask all the time even when you dine in except when you're eating. At the shopping malls, there is a security guard (or security guards) that check and inspect your purse.

Family was the 1st reason for visiting the Philippines. It has been 2 years since our last visit. Next reason, Philippines has a lot of islands beautiful islands to see at an affordable price, not too expensive to travel to and from the Philippines.

We were there on July 19-August 14. Not a good time to travel in the Philippines due to its rainy weather.

We went to Panglao, Bohol (Central Visayan Region), Manila and Palawan (Puerto Princesa and El Nido)

We did self-planning.

While in Manila, we stayed in SOFITEL PHILIPPINE PLAZA MANILA, CITY OF DREAMS-NOBU HOTEL, and HYATT CITY OF DREAMS.

In Panglao Bohol, we stayed in The Bellevue  and Heann Resort Alona Beach.

In Puerto Princesa, we stayed in Princesa Garden Island while in El Nido Palawan, we stayed in Cauayan Resort.

My favorite Ube is the food I crave the most aside from that, the ube ensaymada from Goldilocks, Halo-halo and the fresh buko juice.

We don't have a hard time adjusting to the humid weather because the humidity in the Philippines is almost the same as the humidity here in Los Angeles, California.

Based on our travel experience, we would recommend Boracay. It's so beautiful the beach, the view and selection of restaurants.

If you want peace/serenity, staying at the Cauayan Island is the best place to stay while in El Nido. You have to ride their private speed boat ride for 10-20 minutes to/from the town proper. This place is good to stay for 2 days. Don't miss the island hopping while in El Nido.
